Well, Team Tami pulled it off again! A big thank you to Danielle for pulling this together, and everyone else who helped and participated! Looks like we raised enough money to pay for the plane ticket home for Larry at Christmas! Almost to the penny! Thanks so much for your efforts and your love for Tami and her family.

As you all probably know, Larry's best friends mom Carol passed away this week. Larry flew back to WV to be with the family. Let's pray for him during this time. I'm sure it is difficult for him.

He incurred an unexpected $400 for his plane fare home, so we need to help them offset that expense. I know you will all want to help. Danielle is working with Uno's, trying to set something up for new year's eve. She'll post more details soon. Stay tuned!

What: Spaghetti Dinner & Gospel Sing (Tickets $5.00)
Where: Hurricane High School Cafeteria
When: November 5, 2005 11:00am-4:00pm
Why: BECAUSE WE LOVE TAMI!!!!!!!!

Wanted to remind everyone the Spaghetti Dinner is coming up SOON! We still need tickets sold and we need volunteers to work shifts at the dinner. Everyone get involved in some way. If you can't attend the dinner ,sell tickets. If you can attend the dinner please contact me to sign up for a shift. We can come together and have wonderful day! Come out fellowship , eat, and listen to some great gospel music. If you need tickets please call 562-0673 . If you are wanting to sign up to work that day we have the following times available 10:00-2:00 , 2:00-6:00, or all day from 10:00-6:00. I want to touch base with everyone. Remember the meeting Monday night at 6:00 at the Putnam County Library. Tickets for the spaghetti dinner are available to purchase, or sell. Tara has ordered more, and they should be ready by Monday. You can get some at the meeting Monday, Danielle and I will have some with us at church Sunday, or contact Tara and arrange to pick some up.

Tami is so excited about the spaghetti dinner, she wishes she were here to sell, sell, sell those tickets. I don't know whether she is more excited about the dinner, or the fact that all her high school buddies are working together to help her out! It is rare that 17 yrs after graduation you see classmates band together like you have to help Tami! She is very lucky to have friends like you!

The spaghetti dinner is quickly approaching, and there is a planning meeting tonight at 6:00 at the Putnam County Library at 6:00.

We are promoting the dinner at the church every time we are together, and there is a list of people willing to work, sell tickets, etc. It has been difficult getting to the planning meetings, but everyone has set aside November 5th to help work. Actually, most all of us (Tami's church friends) are letting you HHS Grads do the planning, and we will help with whatever is needed.

Tara, you posted that you were going to drop off tickets at the church for us to sell. I couldn't find anything Sunday. Did u do that, and if so, who did you drop them off to. All of us want to help sell, and we didn't go pick up tickets because we thought they would be at the church Sunday. Sorry if we didn't understand. My daughter has soccer on Monday nights, but that will be over after this coming week. Let me know when you can get us some tickets. If you are in the valley, you could even drop them off in my mailbox.

Joyce Blake is heading up the Avon Fundraiser, and she needs everyones involvement also. Please post if you need order forms, etc. The deadline has been extended to October 31st. This one is obviously close to Tami's heart not only because it is Avon, but because she wants to deliver those puppies to the children at the hospital! Let's all get out and help Joyce make this one a success too!

Tami is so lucky to have great friends! Lets all work TOGETHER to make their financial worries go away!

Hello Everyone,
Just so you know the meeting went well this evening. We will begin selling tickets tomorrow. If you would like to pick up tickets or flyers with info. to pass out we will be handing them out in front of Hurricane High, Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 6 to 6:45 pm. If you can't make it let us know and we'll get the info. to you. Thanks to all who made the meeting and to those who plan to sell tickets or work Nov. 5th. Our next meeting will be at the Teays Valley Branch of the Putnam Co. Library on Mon., Oct. 19 @ 6pm. We still need to iron out a few details and locate sponsors. I know we can work together to make this a successful event for Tami and her family.

Hello everyone! We don't have a total on Papa John's but they were swamped all day! Melissa will let us know as soon as she hears something this evening!

Now it's time to plan the spaghetti dinner! Tara would like to meet with everyone interested in helping Monday, October 10th, at 6:00 p.m. at the Putnam County Library. Be there and ready to help out in any way possible!

More Pizza! Another Excuse Not to Cook!

Everybody pass the word around about Papa John's Day. We can order lunch or dinner at Teays Valley or Patrick Street in Charleston.

Tara will be starting getting things ready for the spaghetti dinner at 11:00 am on November 5th. There are alot of us willing to help, just let us know what you need us to do Tara!

The Avon Fundraiser is in progress. I wasn't in the office today, so I'll have to send everyone the order forms tomorrow.

This question is for you teachers out there. When my kids were at West Teays, they had hat day. For the privilege of wearing your hat, you donate $1.00 to a charity chose by the school. Why not do this and donate to the Tami Evans Lymphoma Fund. What do you guys think?

What a Weekend!

For those of you who missed the gospel sing, you missed a tremendous blessing! We had a visitation of the holy spirit! The groups and individuals sang for 4 hours! No one left because we were all having such a wonderful time in the Lord! I would have loved to have met some of you on this board, but maybe I'll get the chance at the spaghetti dinner. I'm proud of how our church family pulled together to support Tami!

We videotaped the event, and will be sending the DVD to Tami soon!

The church also gave Tami and Larry a cell phone to use while they are in Texas. This will enable them to talk to their friends and loved ones back here in WV all they want. Be sure to get that number from Tami next time you talk with her!

We are starting to kick off the Avon Fundraiser this week. I will email the forms and information to you Denise. I'd also like to get Pam involved in her neck of the woods. Again if we can get 100 people willing to sell 10, we can make about $7,000 for the fund.

We also spoke with the IRS about the fund and it's tax implications on Tami and Larry. If the funds are funneled thru the church, and given to the family by the church as a charitable donation, then it is not taxable income for the family! That is wonderful news. There is some question however about whether the individual giver could receive tax deductible credit for the gift. Individuals interested in receiving tax deductions should check with the IRS about how to do that. My concern was for Tami, and that is taken care of now. God is Good.....All the time!

I haven't spoken to Tara any further about the spaghetti dinner, so I can't give you any updates. If you'll send me some information, I'll be glad to post those on here for you!

Thanks to all of you and your efforts, we have collected almost $4,000 to date for the family. It will take all that and more to support them over the next 6 months.

Here's another funny for ya!

I can't believe everything God is doing!

I want to promote the gospel sing Saturday at the Teays Valley Church of God @ 5:30. We will have a hot dog dinner, games for the kids, great door prizes, and lots of good singing! Pleeeaaasse, plan on coming and bringing your family and friends!

I want to get this Avon fundraiser going. Denise, you can do this down there in NC! All you need is an order form. Can you recruit some people to help you down there? I would love to meet the goal/challenge of 100 people selling 10 bears each. Remember that people can buy a bear and have it donated to the group of their choice, ie; M.D. Anderson Peds Unit, Local Hospitals or charities, Katrina Victims, etc. I think we all ought to push for the Peds Unit at Tami's hospital so she can give them out and tell them about God! Denise, let me know what you think about doing this in your area. Pam you can help also!

Anyone else on here wanting to help, please contact Joyce for a flyer and information on the puppies. We are suggesting that you collect the order and the money. Checks can be made payable to Teays Valley Church of God. Joyce, I'll need you to call Jennifer Coleman at the church office 757-9222 and ask her for the tax ID number. Then we won't have to collect the taxes!

I know Tami appreciates everything you guys are doing as do I. This is what friends are for! I just hope some day that I can look back on this with Tami and we can wonder at the work of the Holy Spirit in all this. Thanks, and stay Godstrong for Tami

We just received the news that money, from the auction of WVU tickets on a local radio station, will be given to Tami & Larry! God is sooooooo Good! All the time! They are expecting this to be about $1,000. Everyone be praying that the auction will bring in not just $1,000, but perhaps twice that amount! Thanks to Tonya W. for getting this in front of the radio station, and thanks to God for moving their hearts to help Tami! Love ya Lord!

We had our meeting last night at the church. Thanks to those who attended!

First thing up is the Husson's Pizza Day Thursday, September 29th. Husson's has agreed to give us 25% of their profits all day when we mention the Evans Family when we order. Pass this along to everybody you know! Your place of business can order lunch, and everyone should plan on eating pizza that night for dinner. Please, please, please pass this information along to everyone you know!

Second event will be held this coming Saturday, October 1st at 5:30. A Gospel Sing & Hot Dog dinner will be held at the Teays Valley Church of God. There will be games and events for the kids, and tons of local talent. Please pass this along to everyone you know, and plan on attending.

October 5th is Papa John's Pizza Night. Unlike Husson's, Papa Johns will only give 20% of the proceeds ordered during dinner (again we have to mention the Evans Family when ordering). We have flyers prepared for handouts at your place of employment, your churches, etc. Please contact Melissa at Botay@aol.com with any questions.

The gift cards have been gathered, and will be given to Larry when he comes in to get the kids Tuesday. He and Joy will be driivng back to Texas with the kids on Wednesday.

Avon is coordinating a fundraiser with the entire District. Joyce Blake is heading this up. They will be selling the "Gund" Sleepy Time Puppies. She will turn the order in October 17th. We should make almost $7.00 on each one sold. The puppies sell for 16.99, and can be bought and donated to the PEDS Unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Anyone interested in helping with this should contact Joyce @ 304-675-6919 or joysofavon@yahoo.com. We will pass out the order forms at church Sunday to anyone interested. Others, please contact Joyce.

The candle fundraiser will kick off after the Avon event concludes. I'll have more details forthcoming.

The spaghetti dinner is being planned. The date has yet to be set. We will let you know soon. We are beginning to gather a list of individuals who are willing to help . We took names yesterday at church for a group of people willing to help. Tara is heading this up, so contact her if you are willing to help. Her email is TDWhitt2@aol.com.

I believe Pam is working on bracelets. I don't have any further details on this, so I'm asking Pam to post for us so we'll know what she is doing.

We are also hoping to get the letters out to the local church congregations regarding Tami and asking for a love offering. I will have additional copies of those flyers going out if anyone needs them.

There are several other things being researched, but are not ready to mention. If you have any ideas and were unable to be at the meeting last night, please let us know.

Please, please keep in touch so we can coordinate our efforts. We talked with a Tax Consultant who advised us to set up the account in the name of the church so Tami & Larry didn't have to pay taxes on the donations. I will fix the account at City National so it reflects Teays Valley Church of God c/o Larry & Tami Evans.

Here is the latest on everyone's activities:

Tara - Working on a spaghetti dinner. Time, date, and location to be announced.
Bake Sale at Poca Festival - Anyone interested should bring baked goods to the TVCOG (Teays Valley Church of God) Friday. Tara will coordinate time, etc.
Denise - Gift Cards I'll ask her to post the specifics for everyone again.

I put together a trifold flyer, and Frank (Tami's brother)is going to have them professionally printed where he works. We can use these to solicit love offerings, etc. I should have those by the beginning of next week, so if anyone wants some, please let me know.

I am going to contact the Church's of God in the state, but each of you have affiliations with other churches that we should contact. You could use the flyer to approach your church family for love offerings as well.

There are probably others that I'm forgetting, so I'd like for everyone to update us with your comments so we can coordinate our efforts and support each others events.

Let's all make it a point to check this site everytime we check Tami's site, so we can be kept up to date on everything.

As the events approach, and we need to communicate, let's do it here on this site. I think tamisjourney should be for communication with Tami and her family only. I'm sure you will all agree. If you run into someone wanting to help give them this website, and ask them to sign on!
